MASTER ERIC TO STAR IN MOVIE
LOCAL KARATE MASTER TO STAR IN MOTION PICTURE
Master Eric Kovaleski of Dickson City, owner of Master Kovaleski's Tang Soo Karate USA, Ltd., Route 6, Dickson City, is soon to appear in motion picture "Zero to the Bone". The movie stars martial arts actress, Black Belt Hall of Fame Member and five-time world champion, Cynthia Rothrock, whose also known as "Queen of the Martial Arts". "Zero to the Bone" is set to begin filming late November in Vancouver, Canada.Master Kovaleski has just returned from special training which was held in China. This recent trip to China included training and touring four major cities including Beijing, Chengdu, Shaolin and Xi'an. He spent fourteen days training and preparing for the upcoming movie. Some of this special training took place at the infamous Shaolin Temple with the Shaolin Monks, where the origins of martial arts have begun. Master Kovaleski performed numerous demonstrations at the request of the monks and was the only one awarded a special citation plague from the Pan China Confederation. This plaque was presented to him by Cynthia Rothrock, on behalf of the Shaolin Monks, the Shaolin WuShu School, Cynthia Rothrock and Eric Lee, martial arts movie star legend, also known as "King of Kata". Master Kovaleski began his training at the age of four, under his instructor, mentor and father, Grand Master Robert Kovaleski, who also was, at one time, Cynthia Rothrock's first instructor. Both of the Kovaleski's trained under Grand Master Frank Trojanowicz of the Scranton Karate School, who was the pioneer of the traditional martial art of Tang Soo Do in northeastern Pennsylvania. Master Kovaleski is the only martial artist to receive a citation from the House of Representatives which was presented to him at his school by our state representative, Ed Staback. He is also a 1994 World Fighting and National Fighting Champion, 1994 National Champion in forms and breaking. He competed and won over 400 trophies nationwide. He is a promoter of the USA Karate Championships and President of the 'ITMA' International Tang Soo Do Moo Du Kwan Assocation. This past March in Jamaica, New York, he was inducted into the USA Martial Arts Hall of Fame as the Master Instructor of the Year in Tang Soo Do. Master Kovaleski has performed martial arts demonstrations on national television including the Jenny Jones Show and Billy Blanks Tae Bo Infomercials, as well as numerous appearances for local news stations. He has performed for numerous events and charities. Master Kovaleski continues to teach and promote the traditional philosophies of Tang Soo Do to hundreds of families daily throughout his three schools in Dickson City, Avoca and Hamlin. Through martial arts, he instills the values of self-esteem, confidence, coordination, integrity, obedience, perserverance, humility, and loyalty while helping students reduce stress and improve their physical and mental health. Master Kovaleski states "Most people view the martial arts in the wrong light. They think of it as "kicking and punching", when, in fact, martial arts is so much more than that. People turn to martial arts to learn values, reduce their stress through vigorous workouts, to lose weight and to become a better person. Self defense is a "by product" of all the training. I believe children should start training at a young age, as I myself did, under a certified and reputable instructor. It is important that parents ask to see their instructor's credentials and learn more about their instructor's lineage, to assure your child can have a successful life-long martial arts experience."
